SUN SBR bonding admixture is a styrene butadiene copolymer latex which is specially modified to be compatible with cement based mixes. It enhances mechanical properties such as adhesion, flexibility, compression and impact strength of concrete and improves the thin section fragility of cement when used as coating.
Recommended Uses
-
Corrosion protection of steel.
-
Floor screed and topping.
-
Concrete and floor screed repairs.
-
Water proofing and tanking of basement. • Bonding old concrete to new concrete.
Features & Benefits
-
Useful as waterproofing coat.
-
Useful as a bonding agent between old and new concrete surfaces.
-
Excellent as a cement modifier.
-
Recommended for use in effuent Tanks, dairies, food factories, water tanks, swimming pools etc.
-
Repair mortar modified with SUN SBR suitable for repairing of RCC beams, columns, slabs and other RCC members.
-
Reduces risk of segregation and bleeding.
-
Improve slump and reduce permeability.

APPLICATION : SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface for treatments must be thoroughly cleaned of all laitance, loose material, oils, greases etc.
Mechanical means such as wire brushing, shot blasting can be used, and finaly vacuum cleaned of all loose solids and liquids.
Bonding Coat
The use of an SBR bonding slurry is recommended to improve the adhesion of cement based mixes onto surface of low suction, and also as a pre-treatment before applying any SBR modified mix. The bonding slurry is produced by diluting the SBR Bonding Admixture with an equal volume of water, then mixing to a smooth creamy consistency with ordinary Portland Cement. The approximate mix is 1 part SBR: 1 part water 4 part cement (by volume) and coverage would be approximately 25m2 per 5 litre of SBR per coat.
Mortar Application
(RENDERINGS, PATCHING, BEDDING AND DAMP PROOFING MIX.) For renderings, patching and bedding mixes two coats of bonding slurry is recommended. After at least 12 hours of application of first coat apply second coat at right angles to the first. Apply mortar while the second coat of bonding slurry is still wet to get good adhesion between old to new concrete. In bedding mixes apply bonding slurry on both the substrate. For damproofing three coats of bonding slurry is recommended. Give at least 48 hours between second coat and third coat of bonding slurry.
Packaging
5 litres to 10 litres per 50kg of cement
Flooring Application
-
The flooring mix is recommended for producing quality, hard wearing floors.
-
Cement - 50kg
-
Sharp Flooring - 75kg
-
3mm Granite Chips - 75kg
-
SUN SBR - 10 Litres
-
Water as required Coverage - 8m2 at 12mm
The base should be thoroughly prepared and treated with a bonding slurry. The materials should be mixed to a semi-dry consistency and applied into the wet bonding slurry at a thickness of 25mm. For floor toppings greater then 25mm reduce the SBR content to 5litres and add the extra water to produce a semi-dry mix. Thinning / Cleaning - SBR Bonding Admixture the diperses in water.
Cleaning of tools & Equipments
Tools and equipments can be easily cleaned with water.
